Signed an open letter to the Harvard community that excuses Israel’s genocide of Gazans as self defense and calls pro-Palestinian students terrorist supporters.

Signed an open letter from Harvard faculty that claims Hamas’ October 7 attack had “no military or other specific objective” and “meets the definition of a war crime.” It claims the IOF was “engaging in self-defense” but makes no mention of Israel’s many unprovoked attacks on Gaza over the past decades. It calls Hamas “terrorists” and implies that students who signed a letter holding the Israeli government responsible are anti-semitic/hateful towards Israelis: “this statement can be seen as nothing less than condoning the mass murder of civilians based only on their nationality." The letter expresses concern for the safety of Jewish and Israeli students but no concern for Muslim or Palestinian students.
The student letter in question contains zero anti-semitic language; it criticizes the state of Israel (not Jewish people) and the subjugation of Palestinians under apartheid, forced displacement, and ethnic cleansing.
