Olajide Olatunji, known as KSI, is a British YouTuber who laughed off questions about Israel's ongoing genocide in Palestine during a February 2024 livestream, claiming he had "no idea" what was happening, that it was "way above him," and that he did not want to get involved.
Olajide Olatunji (KSI), a British content creator, dismissed Israel's genocide in Palestine and professed ignorance during a public livestream, despite previously leveraging his massive platform to speak on systemic racism which shows selective silence on global liberation.
Social / Media/Influencer
Olajide Olatunji, widely known as KSI, is a British YouTuber, musician, and boxer who, in February 2024, when directly asked during a livestream about Israel's ongoing genocide in Palestine, Olatunji laughed and stated he had "no idea" what was happening, described the issue as "way above him," and explicitly declared that he did not want to get involved.
This response occurred amid Israel's intensified settler-colonial violence across Palestine, including widespread destruction, mass displacement, and slaughter that has pushed confirmed Palestinian death tolls into the tens of thousands — with actual figures conservatively estimated to be well into the hundreds of thousands due to the systematic targeting of civilians, journalists, healthcare workers, and civil infrastructure. Olatunji's dismissal and laughter directly contributed to the normalization of this violence by signaling to his audience that the genocide was either too complex or unworthy of engagement from a figure with his reach.
In 2020 interviews with Capital FM and Hits Radio, he rightfully discussed the Black Lives Matter movement, shared personal experiences of racial discrimination as a Black man, emphasized the need to "work twice as hard," and urged his followers to support the cause. However, this only serves to demonstrate a selective application of his influence and his own lack of intersectionality, not only with Palestinian people as a whole but also black Palestinians.
In fact, KSI has repeatedly engaged in advocacy efforts against systemic racism affecting Black communities within the West whilst willfully disengaging from the RSF-backed Arab-supremacist genocide in Sudan, 77+ years of Zionist settler-colonialism, apartheid, occupation, and genocide inflicted upon the Palestinian people, and the rampant exploitation and genocide of our Congolese siblings in favour of tech industry profits.
By refusing to educate himself or his audience on the root causes — Zionist dispossession of indigenous Palestinians through the Nakba, ongoing land theft via "Aaliyah" settlement projects, and the maintenance of an ethnostate through military force — Olatunji helped manufacture indifference and shielded Israel's actions from scrutiny. He has still, two and a half years into a genocide, said nothing about Palestine; almost three years into the genocide in Sudan, has said nothing about Sudan; and he has also maintained this silence in the face of the genocide in Congo too.

🔒Silence = Complicity:
For those who have passionately spoken out against other instances of genocide and massacres, yet fall silent when it comes to the suffering endured by Palestinians, their silence becomes a glaring indictment of the value placed on Palestinian lives and perpetuates a dangerous narrative that suggests Palestinian suffering is somehow less worthy of outrage, less deserving of empathy and less human than that of others.
By choosing silence in the face of Palestinian suffering, those with influential platforms inadvertently contribute to the erasure of Palestinian voices and experiences. They perpetuate a narrative of invisibility that allows the injustices inflicted upon Palestinians to continue unabated, shielded from the spotlight of global scrutiny.
Their silence sends a chilling message of complicity to the world – one that suggests Palestinian lives are expendable, their struggles inconsequential and their humanity negotiable. It emboldens perpetrators of violence and oppression, granting them impunity under the guise of indifference.
To remain silent in the face of Palestinian suffering is to betray the very essence of activism – the relentless pursuit of justice for all, without exception or equivocation. It’s a betrayal not only of the Palestinian people but of the universal principles of human dignity and equality and instead is a tacit endorsement of the dehumanization and marginalization of an entire population.
True activism demands consistency and integrity, an unwavering commitment to speaking truth to power and standing in solidarity with the marginalized and oppressed, regardless of geography or politics.
