Melanie Joly is Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister. Under her leadership (and that of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau) Canada has obtained from UN votes on cease fires and plays lip service to achieving a cessation of the current genocide. They have not vociferously acknowledge the ICJ or UN determinations on plausible genocide and man made famine. They have not called out Israel for their slaughter of tens of thousands of women and children. Their silence about the daily massacers in Gaza and escalated settler violence in the West Bank is a statement in itself. Their latest formal statement (on May 10, 2024) completely ignores the Nakba and the viloent annexation of Palestine. It skips directly from the (unexplained) formation of Isreal to the acts of October 7 and completely ignores the 76 years of Palestinian displacement, disposession, ethnic cleansing, and genocide. It is colonial white washing and Melanie Joly and the Justin Treadeau government are its principal architects.
