Signed a letter equating support of Palestinian liberation as condoning terrorism with no mention of the 75 years of terrorism from Israel against the Palestinians. Claims that “[t]he Israeli-Palestinian conflict has a long and complex history.” Claims Israel has a right to defend itself.
In a recent essay in The Chronicle of Higher Education, Jeffrey Flier, professor of medicine and former dean of the Harvard Medical School, urged college administrators to “maintain neutrality,” writing that a position of institutional neutrality would “reduce the focus on what presidents, provosts, and deans say on specific political and social issues, and leave it to the community of scholars and students to deal — hopefully in a respectful way — with the conflicts that will always be with us.”
