Update: On 26Jan2024 Kim's latest fundraiser was disrupted by pro-Palestine protestors, in Maplewood, NJ asking the congressman if he'd support a ceasefire. Here Kim is seen saying it's something he cares about and wants, but would not be making that decision there. The protestor then asked him to vote for HR 786 that coming Monday. The protestor commends Kim for taking the time to talk with her about the decision despite the interruption.
Andy Kim voted in favor of sending billions of dollars in military aid to Israel, ensuring the Israeli government can continue to commit genocide against Palestinians.
While Andy Kim has called for ceasefires during Israel-Palestine conflicts in the past (2021). This previous call for a ceasefire in 2021 has lost him the support of some pro-Israel groups still to this day. He has not yet used the term "Ceasefire" for the current conflict. Instead, he has called for a renewal of the humanitarian pause.
When asked by Sophie Nieto-Muñoz: “Do you support a cease-fire in Gaza?”
Kim replied "Well, look, right now we need to make sure we’re getting the hostages out, so I’m really focused on that. I don’t think some type of unilateral cease-fire is the right move when we have these hostages that are still held. I’ve met with a number of the families of the hostages and certainly said I would do everything I can to get them home.” — Kim then added that he wants to see protections for civilians in Gaza, but noted that Hamas leadership “has said several times that they plan on continuing to attack. That should be terrifying. That should be deeply alarming”.
Notably, while previously backed by DMFI, several pro-Israel groups have decided to take a stand against Kim, saying, Alan Steinberg, a Zionist columnist, went as far as to say "Kim would be a Disaster for the American – Israel Alliance". This same columnist said he'd also rather support the now indicted Sen Menedez who was a strong ally to AIPAC or Trump supporting NJ Congressman Jeff Van Drew.
